KATHMANDU: Cloud systems developing over western Nepal have continued moving eastward, triggering rainfall in various parts of the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM).

Meteorologist Sanjeev Adhikari from the Meteorological Forecasting Division stated that the weather will likely remain unsettled for the next few days and urged the public to remain cautious. “Clouds have already entered the country via the Himalayan and hilly regions of Darchula in the Far West and Gorkha in Gandaki Province, causing rainfall along their path,” he said.

Currently, both local and western winds are active across Nepal.

Light rainfall is ongoing in parts of Lumbini and Gandaki provinces, with some areas having experienced brief showers earlier today.

Heavier rainfall was reported in Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces during the afternoon.

According to Adhikari, the cloudy conditions are expected to intensify slightly on Sunday and Monday, with light to moderate rain likely in several regions.

However, there is a low chance of heavy rainfall.

“Tomorrow, Koshi Province along with Himalayan and hilly areas are more likely to experience rain, with Koshi seeing relatively higher amounts,” Adhikari said. Even areas that do not receive rainfall will likely remain under cloud cover, offering some relief from rising temperatures.

He further mentioned that while there may be some improvement in the weather next week, cloudy skies will persist across much of the country.
