Third Spark Adventure to be held in Gauritap, Solukhumbu with theme ‘Gateway to Everest’
“This event promotes sustainable tourism and green mobility while spotlighting lesser-known tourist destinations,” Ghimire said.

KATHMANDU: Spark Car, a company providing vehicle and driver services across Nepal, is organizing the third edition of its Spark Adventure event from May 9 to 11 (Baisakh 26–28) in Gauritap, Pattale, Solukhumbu.
Themed “Gateway to Everest”, this year’s Spark Adventure will see the participation of over 200 individuals, according to Spark Car Director Sitaram Ghimire.
“This event promotes sustainable tourism and green mobility while spotlighting lesser-known tourist destinations,” Ghimire said.
“Participants will travel to and from the destination in BYD electric vehicles.” Gauritap, accessible by road from Kathmandu within a day, offers panoramic views of Everest and other Himalayan peaks.
Located at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level, Gauritap sits on the border of Nechasalyan Rural Municipality and Solududhkund Municipality in Solukhumbu district, approximately 230 kilometers from Kathmandu.
The area holds religious and touristic significance.
According to Yogi Laureswar Baba, Gauritap is believed to be the place where Goddess Gauri meditated. “It is said that while a cow named Gauri was giving milk on a sacred stone, a tiger attacked, leaving the imprint of the cow’s hoof on the rock—thus the name ‘Gauritap’,” he explained.
Gauritap offers stunning close-up views of Everest and other Himalayan giants such as Gaurishankar, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Kumbhakarna, all from the comfort of own vehicle.
The area is also rich in biodiversity, home to more than two dozen species of rhododendrons. It houses culturally significant temples such as the Gaurishankar-Ganesh Temple, the Gauri Cow Temple, and the Shiva Panchayan Temple.
The Spark Adventure will include high-ranking officials from government and non-government organizations, entrepreneurs, artists, tourism professionals, and journalists.
The first day will feature an electric vehicle journey from Kathmandu to Gauritap, where participants will camp in tents and enjoy local cuisine amidst the natural beauty.
On the second day, after viewing the golden Himalayan sunrise, the group will travel to Rumjatar in Okhaldhunga. The evening will include a musical program with performances from national artists and cultural showcases by locals. Participants will stay overnight at homestays in Rumjatar, further promoting rural tourism, said event coordinator Amardeep Bhattarai.
The event concludes on the third day with the return journey to Kathmandu in electric vehicles.
Spark Adventure is held annually to promote hidden destinations with high tourism potential.
The first edition in 2022 promoted wild honey hunting in Bhujung, Lamjung, while the second edition in 2023 spotlighted Shailung on the Ramechhap–Dolakha border with the theme “Wild Stay with Chauri.”
Spark Car is also actively involved in the adventure tourism sector, offering a wide range of transport services across Nepal, including self-drive vehicles, driver-only services, and chauffeur-driven cars.
