KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol has firmly denied any internal conflict within the city’s leadership, stating that rumors of disputes are being exaggerated on social media through manipulated content.

Speaking at a climate change program held at the Hyatt Centring Hotel in Soalteemode, Dangol addressed concerns raised by Mayor Tirtha Raj Bhattarai of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality. She clarified, “What appears on social media is not the reality. There is no internal conflict within the Metropolitan City.”

Dangol claimed that certain videos and images are being intentionally edited to fabricate a narrative of discord. “Even if some people are misled by such edited content, I refuse to be distracted by these fabricated controversies,” she added.

Reaffirming her commitment to institutional integrity, Dangol stated, “I am dedicated to the institution and to serving the people. I always strive to ensure that nothing goes against the interests of the Metropolitan City. In a democracy, debate and discussion are necessary—but they must be constructive.”

She also addressed concerns over the city’s recent low expenditure, explaining that it was due to a 104-day absence of the Chief Administrative Officer. “Now that the Chief Administrative Officer has resumed duties, that issue has been resolved. It’s up to the media to analyze the situation as they see fit,” Dangol remarked.
