Man held with homemade pistol in Sunsari

KATHMANDU: Police in Sunsari have arrested a 25-year-old man in possession of a homemade pistol following a dispute with a local resident.
The suspect, identified as Sajjad Ansari of Harinagara Rural Municipality–7, reportedly threatened a local individual, Sarik Jat, during a personal altercation.
According to police, Ansari attempted to intimidate Jat by brandishing the weapon amid the conflict.
Upon receiving information about the firearm being used in the dispute, security personnel from the Ghuski Area Police Office, Sunsari District Police Office, and the Armed Police Force (APF) Base Ghuski were immediately deployed to the scene.
Ansari was apprehended with the illegal firearm with assistance from local residents, police confirmed.
Authorities have launched a further investigation into the incident and the suspect remains in custody.
Police say the arrest highlights ongoing efforts to curb the possession and use of illegal weapons in the region.
