KATHMANDU: The government of Nepal is set to launch a new startup program targeting the ‘Gen Z’ generation, aiming to promote youth entrepreneurship by ensuring business plans and supportive ecosystems across all sectors.

Presenting the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83, President Ramchandra Paudel addressed a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Thursday.

He announced that the initiative will focus on creating internal employment opportunities and boosting income generation through entrepreneurship.

“To address the mismatch in the labor market—where skilled labor is scarce and unskilled labor remains underutilized—we will adopt entrepreneurship-friendly education and undertake significant reforms in curriculum and teaching methods,” said President Paudel.

He also emphasized the need for legal and policy reforms to address existing challenges in school education.

Furthermore, higher education institutions will be reoriented toward knowledge creation, research, and development to align with the country’s economic aspirations.
