Nepal to host Sagarmatha Sambaad to highlight climate crisis

KATHMANDU: The government is set to organize the Sagarmatha Sambaad (Dialogue) from Jestha 2 to 4, aiming to draw global attention to the growing challenges the country faces due to climate change.
Announcing the event while presenting the Policy and Program for Fiscal Year 2082/83 at a joint session of the Federal Parliament, President Ramchandra Paudel emphasized Nepal’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental resilience.
President Paudel stated that the dialogue will serve as a platform for expressing global and national perspectives on climate adaptation and mitigation. “Based on the outcomes of the dialogue, Nepal will implement targeted programs for climate adaptation and impact reduction,” he said.
The national policy document also reiterates Nepal’s pledge to become a net-zero carbon emitter by 2045, with the government set to execute a long-term strategy to achieve this goal.
