President Paudel presents government’s Policy and Program for FY 2082/83

KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel on Thursday presented the Government of Nepal’s Policy and Program for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 during a joint session of the Federal Parliament.

The joint session of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly was held at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.

President Paudel is currently reading out the government’s policy and program to the assembled members.

Prior to his address, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli handed over the official document of the policy and program to the President.

President Paudel was welcomed at the Parliament premises by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, and General Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, Padya Prasad Pandey.

As the Commander-in-Chief of the Nepali Army, President Paudel was accorded a ceremonial guard of honor.

A contingent of the Nepali Army presented a formal salute upon his arrival at the Parliament gate.

The session is being attended by Vice President, former Prime Ministers, former Speakers, heads and officials of constitutional bodies, chiefs and representatives of diplomatic missions, representatives of the private sector, and other dignitaries.

The policy and program presentation is being broadcast live on Nepal Television, Radio Nepal, and several other media outlets.

The Parliament premises have been festively decorated with national flags for the occasion. Invited guests were welcomed at the building’s water fountain area, adding to the ceremonial ambiance.

Over 400 guests received special entry passes from the Parliament Secretariat to attend the event.

As per Article 95 of the Constitution of Nepal, the President is mandated to address the joint session of both houses of the Federal Parliament.

The Parliament Secretariat has already scheduled discussions on the newly presented policy and program from Baisakh 22 to Baisakh 28.

Following this, discussions on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill will begin on Baisakh 30. In line with the constitutional provision, the national budget for the upcoming fiscal year will be presented by the Finance Minister during a joint session of Parliament on Jestha 15.
