APF turning competent in disaster response: Home Minister Lekhak

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said the Armed Police Force Nepal (APF Nepal) is becoming competent in rescue during the disasters and in the border security.

During his address to the convocation ceremony of those graduating in the High Altitude Search and Rescue training conducted by the APF Mountain Rescue Training School in Manang, here today, the Home Minister said the APF’s engagements during the disasters have continued the citizens’ trust in the security agency from home and abroad.

The roles of APF when the citizens were facing the border security issues and were hit by the disasters are praiseworthy and such contribution has made the APF a reliable support of the citizens.

As he said, the training focused for high altitude rescue in Manang, the significant touristic site, would be beneficial for the locals and potential tourists.

As he said, the training is expected to be instrumental in making journey of tourists arriving for the Annapurna Conservation Circuit Trek safe.

Describing the area as the contributor to the national economy through the means of tourism, he stressed the need of making it further safe for tourists.

APF Inspector General Raju Aryal said the training will be helpful in making the rescue in high altitude more efficient and effective.

He underlined the need of giving priority to the high altitude rescue efforts.

A total of 45 APF personnel have completed the training.

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari and House of Representatives (HoR) member Tek Bahadur Gurung were among those present to witness the convocation.
