KATHMANDU: The government has announced a special vaccination campaign targeting children under the age of five who missed their routine immunizations.

The campaign will be conducted nationwide on Baisakh 31 (May 14).

Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, Chief of the Child Health and Immunization Section at the Department of Health Services, stated that nine types of routine vaccines will be administered to these children. “We are conducting a nationwide campaign to vaccinate children under five who missed any of their regular immunizations in the past,” he said.

According to the Department, 95% of children under five in Nepal have already received complete vaccinations.

Efforts are now being made to locate and immunize the remaining 5% who were previously left out.

The Ministry of Health and Population has urged all parents and guardians to take their eligible children to the nearest health facility on May 14 to ensure they are vaccinated.
