Govt to present FY 2082/83 policy & programme today

KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal is set to unveil its policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26) today through a joint session of the Federal Parliament.

The joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM at the Federal Parliament building. According to Padya Prasad Pandey, Secretary General of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the proposed agenda for the session has already been finalized.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has urged all Members of Parliament to be seated in the chamber by 2:45 PM, dressed in the prescribed official attire.
Prior to today’s presentation, consultations among coalition partners have been completed, with consensus on major elements of the upcoming policy framework. The government aims to revitalize the national economy, with a strong focus on youth empowerment and entrepreneurship.
Key priorities in this year’s programme include:
Promoting youth-led enterprises
Enhancing skill development initiatives
Supporting startup ecosystems
Facilitating business plan development
Strengthening governance and transparency
The Federal Parliament has scheduled discussions on the policy and programme from Baisakh 22 to 28, following which the deliberation on the Appropriation Bill—referred to as the pre-budget discussion—will begin from Baisakh 30.
As per constitutional provisions, the government must present the annual budget on Jestha 15 through the Finance Minister in the joint session of Parliament.
