Paras Bam Thakuri emerges as a promising talent after success of ‘Hostel 3’

KATHMANDU: The ‘Hostel’ franchise has long been a launchpad for emerging talents in the Nepali film industry.

It has introduced actors like Anmol KC, Gaurav Pahari, Prakriti Shrestha, Sushil Shrestha, Swastima Khadka, and Nazir Hussain—many of whom have gone on to achieve notable success.

Continuing this tradition, the latest installment of the franchise, Hostel 3, released in Falgun, has given rise to yet another promising face: Paras Bam Thakuri, popularly known as ‘Cool Boy’ on TikTok.

For Paras, Hostel 3 turned out to be a double jackpot. On one hand, the film achieved commercial success, and on the other, his performance received wide appreciation from critics and audiences alike.

This breakthrough role has sparked a wave of opportunities for the young actor. Even filmmakers who previously dismissed him as “just a TikToker” are now keen to cast him in their upcoming projects.

Speaking at the 51st-day celebration event of Hostel 3 on Monday, Paras revealed that he has already received offers for nearly two dozen films.

However, he has not signed any yet. “I’ve received offers for around 24 films, but I haven’t committed to any. Right now, I’m focusing on giving time to myself,” he said. He added that he considers the second film of his career to be a major challenge and is preparing himself accordingly.

Rumors suggest that Paras has been offered as much as Rs 10 lakh for upcoming projects, but the actor clarified that he has not discussed remuneration with any producers so far. “I’ve received film offers, but no one has spoken to me about payment. For me, the script matters most. Payment is something producers will consider carefully. Right now, I just want to learn and grow,” he said.

Paras’s massive following on TikTok also contributed to Hostel 3’s initial box office buzz, drawing young audiences in droves.

With his debut film successfully establishing both his popularity and credibility, the pressure is now on for him to deliver with his next project.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that his second film will be critical in defining the direction of his acting career.
