The staff accused the federation of ignoring their issues and not including their demands in the final agreement.

KATHMANDU: The School Staff Council has expressed dissatisfaction over the recent agreement reached between the Government of Nepal and the Teachers’ Federation on Wednesday, claiming their demands were excluded.
During an event organized in Kathmandu to inform stakeholders about the nine-point agreement, school staff raised strong objections, chanting slogans against the leadership of the Teachers’ Federation.
The staff accused the federation of ignoring their issues and not including their demands in the final agreement.
Speaking at the event, Federation Vice-Chairperson Nanu Maya Parajuli acknowledged the dissatisfaction expressed by school employees.
She explained that the gathering was organized to share the achievements of the recent protests, emphasizing that the nine-point agreement was a result of collective efforts from both teachers and school staff.
Parajuli made it clear that the movement was not over and warned that if the Education Act is not passed soon, a more intense protest could follow.
She reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to the demands of both teachers and school staff and emphasized that there would be no compromise.
She added that both the House of Representatives and the National Assembly have agreed to pass the Education Act promptly, addressing the demands raised during the protests.
Teachers across Nepal had launched a street movement starting from Chaitra 20, demanding the implementation of the new Education Act, among other concerns.
The protests were called off on Wednesday following the agreement with the government.
