KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML, has announced plans to increase its party membership to 750,000 ahead of its upcoming Statute Convention, scheduled for Bhadra 20–22.

Speaking to the media, Madhav Dhungel, Secretary of the Party’s Organization Department, said that the party has declared this year as the “Year of Internal Party Life” and aims to raise its membership to six percent of the total electorate by the time of the convention.

According to Dhungel, the current membership stands at approximately 550,000. “We have set a target to reach 750,000 members by the time of the Statute Convention,” he said.

To meet this goal, the central leadership has directed all district committees to complete the process of enrolling new members and renewing existing memberships within the month of Baisakh (mid-April to mid-May). “We’ve instructed district committees to submit updated membership records to their respective provincial committees by the end of Baisakh,” Dhungel explained. “The provincial committees will then submit their compiled reports to the central office by the first week of Jestha.”
