KATHMANDU: A fire broke out at Bungkulung Dairy, located in Birendra Chowk, Phungling, Taplejung on Thursday morning, causing an estimated loss of around Rs 400,000, according to local authorities.

Locals reported that a gas leak during the heating process triggered the fire.

Thanks to the swift response of local residents and the police, the fire was brought under control by 7:35 AM.

Suraj Ojha, who was actively involved in the containment efforts, confirmed the timeline of the response.

Preliminary assessments suggest that the dairy, along with nearby shops and clothing items, suffered significant damage.

Inspector Vivek Basnet, spokesperson for the District Police Office, stated that the total loss is currently estimated at around Rs 400,000.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
