Truck seized with 783 KGs of cannabis in Sunsari, two arrested (photos)
The truck, initially without a visible number plate, was stopped for inspection based on suspicion.

KATHMANDU: A joint security team from the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal, No. 1 Baraha Battalion Headquarters Sunsari, and the Security Base Dharan seized a truck carrying 783 kilograms of cannabis and arrested two individuals in connection with the case.
The vehicle, which was traveling from Bhedetar toward Dharan along the Koshi Highway, was intercepted near Nishan Danda, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–13.
The truck, initially without a visible number plate, was stopped for inspection based on suspicion.
Upon checking, the police discovered the number plate Na 7 Kha 281 inside the vehicle and found the cannabis concealed in 22 packages hidden in a box above the driver’s seat.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Manoj Pariyar, 31, a resident of Barahkshetra Municipality–1 in Sunsari, and Akash Rai, 18, from Siddhuwam Municipality–6 in Dhankuta.
Both the suspects, along with the seized cannabis and truck, were handed over to the District Police Office, Inaruwa, Sunsari on Wednesday night for further legal action.
Earlier the same day, the APF Disaster Management Base in Dhankuta had seized another vehicle carrying 421 kilograms of cannabis.
In a related development, another truck (Na 5 Kha 3209) claiming to transport 150 sacks of fertilizer for Kerabari Poultry Farm Pvt. Ltd. was stopped for inspection.
Though no other suspicious items were found, a false bottom was discovered in the vehicle.
The truck was also taken into custody and handed over to the District Police Office, Inaruwa for further investigation.
