Son shoots father with homemade gun in Makwanpur

KATHMANDU: A man shot and injured his father with a homemade firearm in Makwanpur district.

The incident occurred in Aghor, Bhimphedi Rural Municipality–9, where 35-year-old Imansingh Thing allegedly shot his 59-year-old father, Kanchharam Thing, with a bharuwa (traditional muzzleloader gun) on Wednesday.

According to the District Police Office, Hetauda, the injured father was being transported to Hetauda for medical treatment.

He sustained shrapnel injuries to his left thigh and right arm.

Police have arrested the son along with the firearm used in the incident. It was reported that the father and son had been living in separate houses.

The altercation reportedly began after the father’s chicken entered the son’s house and scattered dishes, leading to a dispute that escalated into violence.

Local resident Singh Bahadur Moktan confirmed the details of the incident.
