KATHMANDU: Resham Chaudhary, patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), has been released following an unauthorized arrest earlier today.

Chaudhary was detained from the premises of the Nepal Academy (Pragya Pratishthan) in the afternoon, based on a letter issued by Mahiman Singh Bista, an official at the Writ and Case Division of the Supreme Court.

The letter had instructed authorities to detain Chaudhary and place him in Dilli Bazaar prison.

Following the arrest, Chaudhary was taken into custody and held at Dilli Bazaar prison.

However, the Supreme Court later declared the arrest warrant to be unofficial and requested that the directive not be enforced.

In response to the Court’s order, authorities released Chaudhary the same day.
