Resham Chaudhary set to be released
The arrest was based on a letter issued by the Supreme Court calling for his detention, even though his case is still under judicial review.

KATHMANDU: Resham Chaudhary, the patron of the Nagrik Unmukti Party, who was arrested earlier today, is set to be released soon.
The arrest was based on a letter issued by the Supreme Court calling for his detention, even though his case is still under judicial review.
However, the Supreme Court later deemed the arrest letter illegal and issued a second letter instructing police to release Chaudhary. As a result, he is expected to walk free within hours.
Similarly, Supreme Court’s Section Officer, Mahiman Singh Bista, who had issued the first letter ordering Chaudhary’s imprisonment, has been arrested by police and is now in custody.
Bista had directed Dillibazar Prison to detain Chaudhary under charges including murder and attempted murder.
Chaudhary was arrested by police from the grounds of the Nepal Academy (Pragya Bhawan) based on that now-invalid letter.
