KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition parties have held a comprehensive discussion on the priorities for the annual policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26).

Following a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday, CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali briefed the media, stating that the coalition partners had engaged in an in-depth conversation regarding the key components of the national agenda.

Gyawali emphasized that the coalition parties presented significant suggestions aimed at strengthening democracy and collectively countering emerging threats and assaults from various fronts. He further noted that there was a shared understanding among the ruling allies to ensure that infrastructure development becomes more effective, timely, and focused on high-priority areas.

According to Gyawali, the ruling alliance is advocating for a youth-centric approach, promoting entrepreneurship, skill development, startups, business plans, and comprehensive market protection strategies to instill hope and confidence among the younger generation.

In a bid to revitalize the economy, the coalition has also stressed the need to enhance government spending capacity, eliminate unnecessary and wasteful expenditures, and improve operational efficiency across public institutions.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of reinforcing good governance, strengthening foreign relations, and addressing internal migration through mountain-focused development programmes.

Additionally, Gyawali revealed that the coalition partners have called for breakthrough initiatives in employment generation and agricultural development, aspiring for a more impactful and transformative national policy compared to previous years.
