KATHMANDU: After nearly two years of ongoing discussions, the Janamat Party led by Dr. CK Raut and the Nagarik Unmukti Party led by Resham Chaudhary have officially decided to merge.

The unification was formally announced today (Wednesday) during a special event held at the Nepal Academy Hall in Kamaladi, Kathmandu.

The event was attended by top leaders, party members, and representatives from all levels of both parties.

Prior to this merger, the two parties had formed a joint alliance to promote cooperation, which played a key role in facilitating the unification process.

The newly unified party will be named Nagarik Janamat.

As per the agreement, Dr. CK Raut will serve as the Executive Chairperson, Resham Chaudhary will be the Chief Patron with the highest seniority, and Ranjita Shrestha will take the role of Vice Chairperson.

Following the unification, the newly formed Nagarik Janamat party will now hold a total of 10 seats in the federal parliament—six previously held by Janamat Party and four by Nagarik Unmukti Party.

To ensure balanced representation, both parties have agreed to a 50-50 split in the central committee.
