IPL 2025: KKR beat DC by 14 runs to claim fourth win

KATHMANDU: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered their fourth victory of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season with a 14-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in a high-scoring thriller at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Chasing a daunting target of 205 runs, Delhi managed to score 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs.

Faf du Plessis was the standout performer for Delhi, scoring a brisk 62 runs off 45 deliveries, which included seven boundaries and two sixes.

Captain Axar Patel added a valuable 43 runs, while Bipraj Nigam contributed 38 and Karun Nair chipped in with 15.

However, none of the other batters managed to reach double figures, leading to Delhi’s downfall.

For KKR, Sunil Narine starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs in his four overs.

Varun Chakravarthy also impressed with 2 crucial wickets.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Delhi opted to field first. KKR put up a strong total of 204 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs.

They had a solid start, scoring 79 runs in the powerplay for the loss of just one wicket.

Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dismissed for a quick 26 off 12 balls, while Sunil Narine scored 27 and skipper Ajinkya Rahane made 26 before being trapped LBW by Axar Patel.

Venkatesh Iyer fell soon after for just 7 runs, also to Axar.

However, Angkrish Raghuvanshi stabilized the innings with a composed 44 off 32 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes.

Rinku Singh contributed 36 runs and Andre Russell added 17.

Mitchell Starc led the bowling for Delhi with 3 wickets and came close to a hat-trick in the final over. He dismissed Rovman Powell LBW on the third delivery, and on the very next ball, Andre Russell was run out.

Bipraj Nigam and Axar Patel also claimed two wickets each.

With this win, KKR have now won 4 out of 10 matches and sit at seventh position with 9 points.

Despite this loss, Delhi remain in fourth place with 12 points from their 10 matches, having suffered their third defeat in four games.
