Outpatient services resume at Bheri Hospital
According to Medical Superintendent Dr. Nirajan Subedi, the resumption of OPD services has led to a surge in the number of patients visiting the hospital.

KATHMANDU: Outpatient services (OPD) at Bheri Hospital have resumed today after being suspended for two days due to a major fire incident at the hospital’s medical store.
According to Medical Superintendent Dr. Nirajan Subedi, the resumption of OPD services has led to a surge in the number of patients visiting the hospital.
Dr. Subedi also informed that the fire investigation committee, initially formed under the coordination of hospital development committee member Dr. Dhital, has been expanded.
The committee now includes representatives from the hospital staff as well as officials from the District Administration Office, District Police Office, and the Government Attorney’s Office, ensuring a comprehensive and impartial investigation.
“Several new issues have emerged, so the committee has been restructured to ensure a fair and thorough probe,” said Dr. Subedi.
The fire, which broke out last Saturday, is estimated to have caused damages worth around Rs 40 million (approximately USD 300,000).
The blaze destroyed all medicines, medical equipment, and expensive laboratory vaccines stored in the facility.
Preliminary reports suggest the fire started due to an electrical short circuit in a refrigerator inside the medical store.
The fire consumed all the medicines, equipment, and computers stored there.
However, an official investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause and extent of the damage.
