HoR passes bill to amend 89 laws & repeal two

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives today unanimously passed the “Some Nepal Laws Amendment Bill, 2081”, tabled by Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya.
Responding to queries raised by lawmakers during the session, Minister Chaurasiya stated that the bill aims to correct technical and procedural errors in various existing laws.
He informed the House that the government is amending 89 laws and repealing two outdated acts as part of this comprehensive legal reform initiative.
Minister Chaurasiya expressed confidence that the implementation of the amended laws will make developmental works more effective and streamlined.
Lawmakers Purna Bahadur Gharti Magar and Prem Suwal had raised concerns over the practical implementation of the proposed amendments and urged the government to ensure clear frameworks for enforcement.
The next meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled for Friday, Baisakh 19 (May 2), at 5:00 PM.
