NEPSE suffers double-digit decline; financial sector leads losses

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a double-digit fall today, dropping by 15.08 points to settle at 2,631.98. This marks a 0.57% decline in overall market performance.
A total of 18,491,941 shares from 311 companies were traded in 66,265 transactions, amounting to a total turnover of Rs 7.57 billion.
Among the sub-indices, only the mutual fund segment registered a slight gain of 0.07%. All other sectors closed in the red, with the Finance sector taking the hardest hit, falling by 1.22%.
Development banks slipped 0.90%, investment by 0.83%, microfinance by 0.78%, and the other group dropped 0.75%.
The banking sector declined by 0.57%, life insurance by 0.54%, manufacturing and processing by 0.34%, non-life insurance by 0.32%, hotels and tourism by 0.20%, and the trading sector by 0.51%.
Corporate Development Bank Limited and Crest Micro Life Insurance Limited hit the upper circuit limit, indicating strong positive movement in their share prices.
On the losing end, shares of Middle Bhotekoshi Hydropower Company Limited plunged the most, with a sharp decline of 9.98%.
In terms of transaction volume, Sanima Mai Hydropower Limited led the market with Rs 824.37 million in turnover.
Ngadi Group Power Limited topped the list in terms of shares traded, with 1,698,840 shares changing hands.
