KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Binita Kathayat called on the government to prioritize Karnali Province in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

Speaking during a special hour of the session, MP Kathayat demanded that at least 15 percent of the total capital budget be allocated to Karnali’s roads, transportation, education, healthcare, and employment sectors. “Karnali has consistently been deprived of adequate budget and resources,” she stated. “Where are the appointments of Karnali citizens in state bodies? We need Karnali-friendly policies and laws.”

Highlighting the ongoing neglect, Kathayat urged the government to ensure equitable development and representation for the province, which remains one of the most underdeveloped regions of Nepal.

Meanwhile, MP Mahendra Ray Yadav criticized the government for its lack of seriousness regarding the demands of schoolteachers.

“The ongoing protests have disrupted students’ education,” he said, emphasizing the need to resolve the issue through dialogue. Yadav also stressed the importance of job security and safety guarantees for those involved in the scrap metal business.
