KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada has drawn the government’s attention towards the ongoing protests by teachers, urging for an immediate resolution to their demands and a return to normalcy in schools.

Speaking at Tuesday’s session of the House of Representatives, MP Khatiwada emphasized that the teachers protesting daily at the periphery of Baneshwor should not be treated as a spectacle with songs and water cannons, but rather as professionals whose concerns deserve serious government attention.

“Teachers do not belong to just the Congress, UML, or Maoist parties—they are educators of the entire nation,” said Khatiwada. “They must not be managed through daily processions and performances in the streets. The government must create an environment to send them back to classrooms and address their legitimate demands.”

He stressed the need for the newly appointed Minister of Education, Raghuraj Panta, to appear before Parliament and provide clear answers regarding the government’s plan to resolve the issue.

Khatiwada also raised concerns over the delay in the appointment of a new Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, stating that it has had a negative impact on the economy. He urged the government to form a recommendation committee and appoint a Governor without further delay.
