Elderly couple found dead in community forest in Kanchanpur

KATHMANDU: An elderly couple was found dead in a suspected case of suicide in Janajagaran Community Forest, located in Ward No. 9 of Punarbas Municipality, Kanchanpur district.

According to the District Police Office, 68-year-old Sagram Bhul and his 66-year-old wife Gangadevi Bhul, residents of Punarbas–9 ‘Kha’ village, were discovered hanging from separate trees with shawls in the middle of the forest on Monday evening.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Chakraraj Joshi said the couple had left home on Baisakh 11 following a family dispute, stating they were heading to the wife’s parental home.

When they did not return or make contact, concerned family members filed a missing persons report at the Area Police Office in Tribhuwanbasti the next day.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident.

The exact cause of death will be confirmed after a post-mortem examination.
