KATHMANDU: A jeep traveling from Tumlingtar (Khandbari Municipality-9) towards Hile plunged into the Arun River on Monday afternoon after hitting a pedestrian and losing control.

According to DSP Daksh Kumar Basnet, who reached the accident site, the vehicle was en route to Dhankuta when the incident occurred around 2:45 PM at Surtibari in Dharmadevi Municipality-8.

The jeep reportedly veered off the road after striking a pedestrian and subsequently fell into the river.

Three individuals onboard have been rescued, though the total number of passengers and the vehicle’s registration details have not yet been confirmed.

The jeep remains submerged in the Arun River, and further details about the accident are still awaited as rescue efforts continue.
