KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index witnessed a notable decline of 14.53 points on Monday, closing at 2,647.07 points, a drop of 0.54% compared to the previous trading day.
This downturn reversed Sunday’s marginal gain of 3.5 points, indicating a short-lived recovery.
Out of the traded stocks, 78 companies recorded price gains, while 167 saw their share prices fall, signaling a largely bearish sentiment across the market.
The day saw 76,998 transactions, with a total trading volume of 23.69 million shares, amounting to a turnover of approximately Rs 8.91 billion.
Both the index and the daily transaction volume declined compared to Sunday, when the turnover had reached Rs 10.87 billion, despite only a slight rise in the index.
Among the 13 trading sub-indices, all except Finance and Trading sectors registered losses, contributing to the NEPSE’s double-digit fall.
