KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has pledged to take strong and uncompromising action against corruption in Nepal’s aviation sector.

Responding to queries raised during the theoretical discussion on the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Bill in Monday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Pandey emphasized the government’s firm commitment to transparency and accountability in aviation affairs.

He said that investigations are currently underway regarding irregularities in airport construction and aircraft procurement.

The concerned bodies are conducting studies, and once the reports are finalized, legal action will be taken against those found guilty based on the merit of the cases.

Referring to the ongoing probe into Saurya Airlines, the minister confirmed that the preliminary report has already been submitted.

Once the final report is received, appropriate legal measures will be initiated in line with the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), he added.

Minister Pandey further called on all stakeholders to work diligently and collaboratively to enhance the effectiveness and integrity of the Civil Aviation Authority Act, aiming to make it more robust and future-ready.
