KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Chair of CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal, has emphasized the urgent need for the government to address the demands of teachers, stating that it is essential to put pressure on the authorities.
Speaking to the media outside the Parliament building on Sunday, Nepal remarked that as an opposition leader, he is currently engaged in discussions on how best to raise the issue within the House.
“We, as the opposition, are planning to deliberate on the most effective ways to raise this issue in Parliament. It’s crucial to exert pressure on the government. So far, the government seems to be paying little attention to the genuine concerns of teachers,” Nepal said.
He criticized the government for failing to take the teachers’ movement seriously and called for a proactive approach to finding a resolution. “The government must treat the teachers’ demands with the seriousness they deserve. Their collective voice should be seen as an opportunity for constructive dialogue, not ignored,” he added.
Chairman Nepal accused the government of lacking initiative in addressing the teachers’ grievances and stressed that a positive and solution-oriented response is necessary.
