KATHMANDU: The ongoing teachers’ protest in Kathmandu took a chaotic turn on its 26th day, as demonstrators attempted to breach restricted zones near the federal parliament building.

Tensions escalated when teachers, demanding reforms and better working conditions, tried to march towards the Parliament, defying government-imposed prohibitory orders in the area.

In response, police deployed water cannons to disperse the crowd.

Clashes broke out between the protesters and security forces, resulting in scuffles and stone-pelting from some demonstrators after police used force to contain the situation.
