Woman killed in Ilam following khukuri attack

KATHMANDU: A 52-year-old woman was killed in Ilam district after being attacked with a khukuri in what authorities say was a result of a minor dispute.

According to police reports, the incident occurred in Sijalitaar, Mai Municipality-4, where 42-year-old Shantiram Dulal allegedly attacked local resident Bhumika Chapagain with a sharp-edged khukuri.

The weapon struck her head, causing severe injuries.

Chapagain was immediately rushed to B&C Hospital in Birtamode for treatment, but she succumbed to her injuries during the course of medical care.

District Police Office Ilam has taken Dulal into custody and is conducting further investigation into the case.
