KATHMANDU: In a thrilling IPL encounter on Friday, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) scripted history by securing their first-ever win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at their home ground.

SRH clinched a commanding five-wicket victory, chasing down the target of 155 runs with eight balls to spare.

Ishan Kishan anchored the chase with a solid 44-run knock, while Kamindu Mendis played a crucial finishing role, remaining unbeaten on 32 off just 22 deliveries.

Their partnership ensured SRH’s smooth sail to a memorable win.

Earlier, CSK, after losing the toss, were bowled out for 154 runs in 19.4 overs.

Despite promising contributions from debutant Dewald Brevis (42) and youngster Ayush Mathre (30), the rest of the batting lineup faltered under pressure.

Sunrisers’ bowling unit was led by the exceptional Harshal Patel, who delivered a match-winning spell, picking up 4 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs and was deservedly named Player of the Match. Kamindu Mendis also impressed with the ball, maintaining his all-round impact.

The loss pushed Chennai to the bottom of the points table with just 4 points, while Hyderabad climbed to eighth place, collecting 6 points and boosting their playoff hopes.
