KATHMANDU: Nepal today observed Earthquake Memorial Day in remembrance of the devastating earthquake that struck the country on April 25, 2015 (Baisakh 12, 2072 BS).

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake had its epicenter in Barpak, Gorkha, and caused widespread destruction, claiming thousands of lives and affecting millions.
To mark the occasion, awareness and preparedness programs were conducted throughout the nation, including in the Kathmandu Valley.
One of the key events took place at the Dharahara premises in Kathmandu, where the Ministry of Home Affairs organized a special ceremony.
The event was attended by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli as the chief guest, along with other government officials and stakeholders.
The memorial day serves as a reminder of the importance of disaster resilience and preparedness in a country prone to seismic activity.
