Federal Parliament session to begins today with key addresses expected

KATHMANDU: The new session of Nepal’s Federal Parliament, comprising both the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, is set to commence today.
The meeting will begin at 1 PM at the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor, following a call by President Ramchandra Paudel on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
Today’s session is expected to be significant.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to address the House of Representatives, setting the tone for the session.
Senior leaders from various political parties are also preparing to deliver opening remarks.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire will present the official letter from the Office of the President regarding the session’s commencement.
He will also provide updates on the Prime Minister’s duties and the formation of the Council of Ministers, along with reading additional communications received from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
As per Rule 10 of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079, the Speaker will nominate members of parliament to chair meetings in his absence—a key item on today’s agenda.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is expected to seek permission from Parliament to introduce the “Alternative Development Finance Mobilization Bill, 2081.”
The previous winter session of Parliament had formally concluded on Chaitraa 18.
