DPM Singh urges engineers to prioritise innovation-based development

PATAN (Lalitpur): Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh has urged engineers to prioritise the implementation of innovation and technology-based projects.

During his address to the Second National Conference of the Center for Democratic Engineers Association (CDEN) held in Lalitpur today, the Minister urged engineers to deliver, considering the needs of the nations and the demand of citizens.

He further added that until the institutionalization of governance system based on democratic norms and values, the future of Nepali citizens won’t be ensured.

He called on all political parties to self asses weaknesses, be ready for the correction, taking the country towards political stability which is vital for further strengthening of the civic rights and achieving sustainable development.

Also speaking at the programme, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, sought the attention of all stakeholders concerns for the quality infrastructure development. AS he said, the government is ready to amend laws capable of obstructing the ways for securing sustainable development.

“Now the way has been paved for 15,000 megawatts power trade with India. The implementation of the Budhiganadaki project will create 17,000 jobs,” he added.

Central Chair of Nepal Engineers’ Association, Subash Chandra Baral called for broader cooperation for sustainability in the development endeavours.

He underlined the need of political commitments to achieve the sustainable development.

President Laxman KC said the event aimed to explore potentialities in this sector and identify hurdles for the sustainable development and to suggest policies to the government accordingly.

CDEN general secretary and engineer Thaman Bahadur Khadka said the Centre is an alliance of 9,646 engineers and among them, over 6,700 are from the Bagamati Province.
