Democracy must be felt, not just formalized: Dr. Sunil Sharma
He urged that service delivery should reflect a servant-leader mindset, putting people at the center of governance.

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr. Sunil Sharma has emphasized that it is time for leaders to become public servants rather than rulers.
Extending his best wishes on the occasion of Democracy Day, Dr. Sharma called for a complete transformation in the way the state is governed—ensuring that citizens truly experience the essence of democracy.
He urged that service delivery should reflect a servant-leader mindset, putting people at the center of governance.
“Democracy is not something we received easily,” he wrote, recalling the long and painful journey of the Nepali people. “It is the result of historic struggles, sacrifices, and the deep desire for change.”
Stating that democracy should not be treated as a mere formality, he stressed the need to internalize democratic values in practice.
“Today marks a historic day in Nepal’s political timeline—a turning point that established the Nepali people as sovereign,” he noted.
