KATHMANDU: Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes suffered a blow on Wednesday as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium — a result that brings Liverpool within touching distance of the trophy.

Arsenal twice took the lead but failed to hold on, allowing Palace to snatch a late equalizer.

The result leaves Liverpool just one point away from clinching their 20th Premier League title.

Had Palace pulled off a win, Liverpool would have secured the title without kicking a ball. Now, a draw or win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday will be enough to confirm Liverpool as champions.

Arsenal started brightly, taking the lead in the 3rd minute through Jakub Kiwior. However, Eberechi Eze brought Palace level in the 27th minute with a brilliant finish.

Leandro Trossard restored Arsenal’s lead in the 42nd minute, making it 2-1 at halftime. But in the 83rd minute, substitute Jean-Philippe Mateta capitalized on a defensive error by William Saliba to score the equalizer for Palace.

With this result, Arsenal now sit at 67 points — 12 behind league leaders Liverpool. Crystal Palace remain in 12th place after a spirited performance.
