India, Nepal Ministers discuss Urban Development Cooperation
The meeting focused on the exchange of experiences and technical cooperation between Nepal and India in the field of urban development.

KATHMANDU: Indian Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, held a meeting with Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, at the Ministry of Urban Development in Singha Durbar.
According to Secretary of the Ministry, Gopal Prasad Sigdel, the two ministers discussed strengthening bilateral relations and areas of mutual interest, particularly in urban development.
The meeting focused on the exchange of experiences and technical cooperation between Nepal and India in the field of urban development.
Secretary Sigdel highlighted that discussions included topics such as urban transport management and solid waste management—areas where India has made significant recent progress.
“Minister Khattar, who also oversees urban development in India, shared insights into the achievements India has made in recent years,” Sigdel said. “Nepal’s Minister Singh welcomed these insights positively and expressed interest in leveraging India’s experiences for Nepal’s urban development efforts.”
Sigdel also mentioned that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been prepared to facilitate future collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two countries.
The agreement will be signed at an appropriate time.
