100,000 UML youths to join youth festival’

KATHMANDU: Kshitiz Thebe, Chairperson of the Youth Association Nepal (YAN), a sister organization of CPN-UML, announced that over 100,000 youths are expected to participate in the upcoming Youth Festival on April 24 (Baisakh 11), marking the day of Nepal’s democratic achievement.
Speaking at a press conference organized by YAN in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Thebe said the event aims to celebrate democracy from the perspective of Nepal’s youth. “This is a festival rooted in history, where the youth will celebrate the spirit of democracy,” he said.
He highlighted that over 42% of Nepal’s population comprises young people, adding that today’s youth—who once collected firewood—must now embrace the era of artificial intelligence and move forward accordingly.
“The voice of Nepal’s ten million youth is the voice of democracy,” Thebe stated, emphasizing that the April 24 celebration is a patriotic event dedicated to youth empowerment.
He further claimed that the only alternative to democracy is a more advanced and inclusive democracy. “This day marks the victory of the Nepali people and their achievement of democratic governance, which we aim to celebrate with a vision of youth entrepreneurship and national development,” he said.
The festival will also feature performances by popular artists, according to the organizers.
