Teacher held for alleged sexual misconduct with student

KATHMANDU: A teacher at Surya Secondary Boarding School in Khandbari, Sankhuwasabha has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a female student.

According to police, Bibek Khatri, a resident of Siddhakali, Chainpur Municipality-3, allegedly called the girl into his room at the school hostel around 1 AM on Sunday and engaged in inappropriate behavior.

The incident came to light after the victim lodged a formal complaint.

Inspector Ram Kumar Lamichhane of the District Police Office confirmed that Khatri, who had been residing in the school hostel, is now in custody.

A five-day remand has been granted by the Chainpur District Court to facilitate further investigation.

Police have launched a detailed investigation under charges related to child sexual abuse.
