KATHMANDU: Delhi Capitals strengthened their chances of reaching the IPL 2025 playoffs with a commanding victory over Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 160, Delhi cruised to the win with 13 balls to spare, losing only two wickets in the process.

Opener Abhishek Porel set the tone with an explosive 51, while KL Rahul anchored the innings with a steady yet vital 57.

Captain Axar Patel added an aggressive 34*, forging a crucial 59-run partnership with Rahul for the third wicket to seal the chase comfortably.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being put in to bat, Lucknow posted 159 for 6 in their 20 overs.

Aiden Markram top-scored with 52, supported by Mitchell Marsh’s 45 and Ayush Badoni’s 36.

However, Delhi’s pace spearhead Mukesh Kumar stole the show with a fiery spell, claiming 4 wickets for 33 runs to derail Lucknow’s momentum.

Despite Markram taking two wickets with the ball, it wasn’t enough to prevent a loss for the Super Giants.

With this win, Delhi moved up to second place on the points table with 12 points from 8 matches.

Lucknow now sit fifth with 10 points from 9 games. Delhi’s playoff journey is now well on track and gaining momentum.
