KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Bidya Bhattrai resigned due to health reasons, not due to any disagreements with him.

During an event marking the 76th anniversary of the Nepal Communist Party, he addressed the external discussions surrounding Bhattrai’s resignation, attributing it to the Prime Minister’s lack of cooperation and neglect. “She is a minister I appointed. I have been working with her, offering support and teaching her,” Oli said. “She has a large ministry, and her resignation is due to health issues. There’s no point in spreading unnecessary rumors about this.”

Oli also commented on the recent trip of Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to Bangkok for medical tests, suggesting that it was being linked to rumors of the government’s potential collapse.

He reiterated that, according to the agreement with the UML and Congress, he would hand over the position of Prime Minister to Deuba after 15 months.
