NNJS & Nepal Police Hospital sign MoU for enhanced eye care services

KATHMANDU: Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) and Nepal Police Hospital have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the field of eye care services.
The MoU was signed today at the Nepal Police Headquarters in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.
According to NNJS Executive Director Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra, the partnership will focus on sharing human resources and expertise, conducting capacity-building programs, and raising public awareness about eye health and preventive care.
Under this agreement, active-duty police personnel referred from Nepal Police Hospital and its regional branches will receive free eye treatment and surgeries at NNJS-affiliated eye hospitals.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, NNJS General Secretary Bharat Bahadur Chand said the collaboration will play a significant role in the organization’s mission to eliminate blindness from Nepal.
He also expressed pride in working with the police force, which is dedicated to public service, and reaffirmed NNJS’s commitment to expanding services in the future.
Inspector General of Police Deepak Thapa stated that the agreement would boost the morale of police personnel who are tirelessly working to maintain peace and order.
He expressed confidence in continued cooperation and service expansion between the two institutions.
The MoU was signed by NNJS General Secretary Bharat Bahadur Chand, Executive Director Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra, and on behalf of the Nepal Police Hospital, Medical Director AIG Dr. Sundar Prasad Hyoju and Head of Ophthalmology Department SP Dr. Jyoti Bastola Poudel.
Established in 1978, NNJS operates 28 eye hospitals, 224 eye care centers, and 45 district branches, providing eye care services to over 3 million people annually.
