Woman held for posing as govt official, defrauding over Rs 7.6 lakh
Posing as a high-ranking official, she reportedly lured victims with promises of securing contracts at the airport.

KATHMANDU: A 40-year-old woman, Janaki Neupane, originally from Dailekh and currently residing in Lalitpur Metropolitan City–25, has been arrested on charges of fraudulently impersonating a government official.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Neupane was apprehended by police in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–11.
She had allegedly introduced herself to various individuals under false identities, claiming to be an Undersecretary at the Ministry of Law and an employee at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Posing as a high-ranking official, she reportedly lured victims with promises of securing contracts at the airport.
In the process, she collected Rs 760,800 from one victim under the pretense of revenue and deposit fees.
Preliminary investigations also revealed that she took additional money from two other individuals, promising them grants and contracts.
The Nepal Police Headquarters confirmed that Neupane has been sent to the District Police Office, Lalitpur, for further investigation and legal proceedings related to fraud.
