Inmate dies during treatment

KATHMANDU: A 59-year-old inmate, Dhan Bahadur Bishwakarma, who was serving a sentence in Jhapa Jail, has passed away while receiving medical treatment.

Bishwakarma, a resident of Mangsebung Rural Municipality-4 in Ilam, had been incarcerated on a homicide-related charge.

He was showing symptoms of throat cancer.

On Monday afternoon, he suddenly experienced breathing difficulties and was immediately taken to the Provincial Hospital in Bhadrapur.

However, despite efforts to treat him, he succumbed to his condition, according to prison authorities.
