NEB meets today to decide Grade 12 exam fate
The move comes at a time when the education sector is facing disruptions due to an ongoing nationwide protest by teachers.

KATHMANDU: The National Examination Board (NEB) has called a high-level meeting today to make a decisive announcement regarding the Grade 12 examinations.
The move comes at a time when the education sector is facing disruptions due to an ongoing nationwide protest by teachers.
Dr. Mahashram Sharma, Chairperson of the Board, confirmed that a final decision on whether to conduct the exams will be made during today’s meeting.
The continued strike by educators demanding the implementation of a new Education Act has brought teaching activities across the country to a halt.
Led by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, the protest—which began on April 2 —has turned major areas like Maitighar and Baneshwor in the capital into demonstration zones.
Teachers are pressing for the unification of 18 categories of teaching services and the immediate introduction of the Education Act.
Despite multiple rounds of dialogue between the government and the federation, no concrete agreement has been reached.
As a result, the fate of this year’s Grade 12 examinations hangs in the balance, with today’s NEB meeting expected to bring much-needed clarity.
