KATHMANDU: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has emphasized the need to utilize skills acquired abroad to create opportunities within Nepal.

Addressing the Nepal Festival 2025 held in Abu Dhabi, jointly organized by the Nepali Embassy and the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) in Dubai, Dhakal stressed that Nepal has immense potential, and the country must harness these opportunities to achieve economic prosperity.

“Development is not possible without long-term, strategic planning. We can learn from Dubai that visionary and stable leadership is essential for development. The UAE, once dependent solely on oil, has diversified its economy by focusing on tourism, financial services, construction, smart cities, and trade—turning Dubai into a global business hub. Similarly, we must diversify Nepal’s own potential and capitalize on it,” Dhakal said.

Highlighting sectors such as energy, tourism, agriculture, and information technology as areas with vast potential, Dhakal noted that attracting foreign investment in these sectors could significantly boost employment and contribute to Nepal’s overall economic development.

He also pointed out that Nepal is rich in art and culture, which are national treasures, and said such festivals abroad play a key role in promoting Nepal globally, strengthening friendship and goodwill.

Dhakal further stated that FNCCI is consistently working to strengthen economic ties between Nepal and the UAE.

He noted the successful organization of the Nepal–Dubai Business Forum in December 2023, in collaboration with the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.

The forum provided a platform to explore business cooperation between the two nations.

Acknowledging the contributions of Nepali workers abroad, he said the private sector highly respects their efforts. He reiterated FNCCI’s commitment to building partnerships that benefit both Nepal and the UAE.
