KATHMANDU: A man claiming to be a parent was assaulted by protesters during a teachers’ demonstration at the Ark Bridge area in New Baneshwor on Monday.
The individual, identified as Saroj Mehta, was reportedly attacked by a group of teachers who accused him of intruding into the protest.
The incident occurred when police attempted to escort him out of the demonstration site.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing the confrontation.
Mehta stated that he had joined the protest to urge teachers to return to school, saying his daughter was unable to get admitted due to the ongoing strike.
He identified himself as a parent of a student at Saraswati Secondary School in Godawari, Lalitpur, and said he resides in Ward No. 5 of Godawari Municipality.
The altercation has drawn attention online, highlighting the tension between public grievances and the ongoing teachers’ movement.
